Here in Malvern it's rained for 24 hrs. It always seems to rain just when I've bought a load of plants, so that I can't get out to put them in place. Now that summer is properly with us (!) can members tell us what gardening-related things they choose to do when it's too wet to be digging, weeding or planting? Today I decided to tidy the greenhouse and clear out some rubbish - old pots etc. I love being in the GH when it's raining, because it's warm and I can still feel I'm doing something productive. I've had a pleasant 4 hrs pottering. I also spend time on Gardeners C., reading & posting. What do other people do?

We've been helping out a friend at her village fete. The rain has more or less stayed off. Back home now drinking wine. I might pop out into the garden and have a potter in a bit.

I was out digging manure in yesterday in the rain. I loved it, the smell just reminded me of the countryside. I also stood there for ages in the rain just looking at my sparse flower beds, pondering where to put my six new Salvias that I got the other day. They're still not in yet:)

Whenever I buy plants, especially if I have brought home a boot-load, it always seems to rain so that I can't actually get out to put them in. My neighbour will garden in the rain, but I don't find much fun in handling claggy soil and having water run down my arms etc. Also the rubber shoes pick up so much soil, it's like walking with bricks on your feet!

Am not much of one for gardening in the rain either. A bit of drizzle I can handle but even then I dont tend to stay out there too long. Makes my hair too frizzy and then have to spend an hour + straightening it !!

During the wet weather over the weekend, I had a trip to the garden centre. Got some more Begonia's and Busy Lizzie's to replace the ones my dog squashed :(

Also picked up some more petunias. Nice stripey ones - although havent found a home for them yet!

Also got a nice 'blue angel' hosta. Been looking for a blue one for ages but couldnt find one local so V pleased :)

I enjoyed that rain. We had 1.1 inches the night before last, and really needed it. The result is that the garden is now in the most perfect workable state. Although it is clay, with some iprovement, I can just push my fingers down 6 inches into the soil. Perfect for weeding and planting.
