Morning all! I've just been up to my greenhouse and found tiny white caterpillars on top of the compost in my chives pot. My question is....can I just use my bug spray on them? I'd better go check my other pots for them!

Vine weevil grubs are white, legless and have pale brown heads. They're chubby little devils about 10mm long and are usually in a C shape when you find them munching on the roots of your favourite pot plant. I've never seen the grubs on the surface of the compost or soil.

I think your "tiny white caterpillars" just might be onion fly larvae. I've never known them attack chives but they're all part of the allium family so it's possible. I'd remove as many by hand as you can and spray the area with Provado Ultimate Bug Spray (unless the instructions advise against it, of course).

I discovered a Green carepillar with white lines along the body on Friday, but No idea what type it is. This was the very first time I had seen one like it.
