Something v-e-r-y s-t-r-a-n-g-e happening in Sink Garden...

Morning Readers,

I have an old sink outside my backdoor that's had stuff growing away quite happily for over a year now. I noticed on Monday, one of the Alpines that's been in there all this time - I touched it and it sort of disintegrated! A similar thing happened with a Houseleek a few months back.

I noticed yesterday, a hole - it's probably 10cm (4") deep and 4.2cm diameter - it's a perfect cylindrical hole - See below:

I watered the sink yesterday but no dead Mouse or anything else floated out. I'm very perplexed with this!! Anyone had similar occurence? Any clues? :skp:

Could be two different problems, one, vine weevil grubs which would destroy the roots of certainly the Semp and a vole or shrew looking for the grubs to eat.

 

Thanks Palustris. Mmm. I thought at first **Mouse** but seen no other signs. Vine weavil could well be the culprit. Just Wikied 'Vole' and yep - could be that or shrew too. As I said, seen no other signs anywhere in the garden before this. Better keep me eyes peeled I expect!!
