eucalypyus tree

    hello
    can anyone advise on problems with a sickly looking eucalyptus tree. the stems are covered in a white film is this normal.

    It would help if you can post some pictures of the tree in question. It will help make a better diagnosis of the problem.

    The pic wasn't clear or close up enough to look at the bark, but to me it looks like some sort of powdery mildew casued by fungal infection, but I can't say I know of one that affects stems only. It's not clear in the photo, but are the leaves affected?

    Mildews often respond well to fungicidal sprays which you should be able to get from any good garden centre. I'd suggest giving one a try and go from there. The tree looks healthy enough. Let us know how you get on.

    Looks like just normal bloom on the stems to me, therefore no problem!

    Do you know what species of euc. it is? Eucalyptus caesia often has powdery stems and is perfectly normal. I had assumed earlier that your tree was the typical gum tree Eucalyptus gunnii.

    thanks for you replies not sure what kind of eucalyptus as it doesnt belong to me.
    will try to get better pics though, also i noticed lower down on the trunk the bark is peeling is this normal.

    Peeling bark on eucs is normal. It comes away in flakes continually.
