    Ash or Sycamore seedlings.

I guessed what it would be before even opening your post, as this is the time of year for them. The next (true) leaf should reveal which one they are, or a pic of nearby suspect trees should do it.

P.S. Welcome to our forum Flapjack.

      Scrungee,
thank you for the quick reply

Your a star there are a few trees around the garden. I never noticed the saplings before and have lived here for 6 years.

I even thought it could have may have been a mate with a pocket of seeds.

      Phew!!!

Gosh, I hope what I have on my lawn (infestation) are harmless too. They look exactly like Flapjack's picture and I've uploaded a few of my own along with true leaf.
My neighbour has a huge tree that is half on my side. I have no clue what the tree is, but could it be the culprit? I've lived in this house for 3 years and have not seen these before at all, but right now they've taken over the lawn, beds and pots.

Please tell me they are harmless Ash or Sycamore seedlings like Scrungee has said before. I'm holding off mowing in case what I have is some evil weed taking over my garden, and I need to treat them differently.

          They are.

It could be that the neighbour's tree has only just reached maturity, or maybe the prevailing wind normally blows them in the other direction.

You've made my day Scrungee, thank you. Now I can mow with peace of mind. A million thanks.
Flapjack, thanks for the original post. It was as if you read my mind.
Happy rest of Easter everyone. Such a glorious day today.

Sycamore seedlings - bane of my life this time of year. I've got one overhanging the garden at the front and another at the back (both in neighbours' gardens) and I get literally hundreds of the things in border, pots, lawn and every nook and cranny. They are very easy to get rid of though, just pull them out or if in the lawn, mow it :blue thumb:

I have the same problem here, I have some moss in one of the gutters & there's even one of those dam suckers in there, sounds like a job for the ladder! I can't have that growing on my roof! My drive & lawn are covered with them, last weekend I spent ages pulling them out, very therapeutic though :dancy:......every cloud has a silver lining!

Filled a full sized wheelie bin with these darn seedlings today and still more to go :(
But on the plus side sat down on the warm bark mulch, filling a bucket at a time with the birds singing and the sun shining so have to agree really it was a satisfying and therapeutic days work!
