Sam it all else fails you could always plant it up with heathers and spring/summer flowering bulbs depending on the time of year. Heathers will take some kicking and look good all year round.

Or how about a herb planter? I have a lovely border along our front path that has mint, thyme, rosemary etc. and a couple of wonderful curry plants. I love the curry plant as it has white silver foliage the whole year round and you can clip it back hard and the smell it something else! Hel.xxx.

For a lad, make him wear a suit and tie in public and make him help you with the grocery shopping. Take a photo of you giving him a big sloppy motherly kiss on the cheek while he is wearing said suit and show the pic to his freinds.

For a lass, make her wear dungarees in public for a week. Ban her from Facebook for a while and hide her mobile phone.

What horrid parents you all are :hehe:

My almost 16 year old son does help me with the shopping and kisses his mum in front of his mates too :luv: ...... 'hoodies' aint all bad you know! For a very popular lad (esp with the girls :() he knows his mum is the best though :)

Managed to go to B & Q today and came back with some more begonia's and busy lizzies so just out to plant them back in the planter shortly and then cross my fingers!

Picked up some nice striped petunias while I was there ..... didnt really need them but I am sure I will find some space somewhere :hehe:

Well got them all planted up on Saturday so will have to see how it goes this time around. If the dog gets back up there again then am going to have to look into everyones suggestions of other plants as cant keep replanting all summer!

On a plus note, the kid that was at home last week has now finished her study leave so none of them will be at home in the day :) ..... well apart from between 4 - 5 .... so hopefully they might stand a chance !!!

Awww Sam that's such a shame about the bed glad you're planting it back up again. I think th idea about the hoops and the metal look edging sounds a good idea and I don't think it would look too bad in your planter. It's worth a go and as u say it's only a few quid lost if not.

My dogs used to go on my borders but after shouting at them a few times when i caught them they do stay off them now.

At the moment we havent put the hoops or anything up (other half doesnt think it will look nice as we would need to put them up quite high for her not to be able to jump up which means we would be able to see them through the window in our lounge). Just replanted it as before and see how it goes.

The dog would never dream of getting up there If I was out in the garden, or even at home!

Hopefully the kids have the message now about shutting the dog out! Regardless of her wrecking my plants .... they shouldnt be locking her out there anyway!!!

I did have another idea the other day though. If she ruins them again then next spring I might get other half to demolish that planter, move the bench to that section and ask him to build another planter under the kitchen window (which is where the bench is now) as the dog would definately never jump up there as I never open those windows as I can reach the handles past the worktop! I always open the second set of kitchen windows the other end instead! .... whereas the planter is directly under the lounge window which is always open - so all she was trying to do was get back in the house.

Not sure what other half will make of my plans though :hehe:

Hmmmm come to think of it ..... might not be a bad idea anyway as we would then look out onto the garden rather than onto the fence ..... I shall 'mention' it and see what response I get :lollol:

The garden for him is somewhere he BBQ's ... and the place where I am usually found.

He has no interest whatsoever, so it might take some doing!! (bit like your other half Aaron). I will definately suggest it though and see what kind of response I get to see if its even a possibility :) ...... will just have to wait till I catch him in a good mood :hehe:
