In my opinion, those pots are way too small if anyone is thinking of keeping full size Dahlias in them.

I was planning to use them as tomato pots (bottomless) on top of large grow bags.

They are conical shaped flower buckets with no handles and no holes in the bottom that have been used once for delivery of flowers to their stores, they're normally near the flowers/plants but I have seen them near the vegetables.

If they're ready for sale they will be bundled up with some red sticky tape with 99p on it and a barcode. I've saved the tapes in the past when I've been after loads of them and if they haven't been prepared I've given them a bit of help.

N.B. They are not UV stablised like proper flower pots or buckets and will go brittle after several years if left out in the open.

But at the cost (or lack of) being UV stable isn't a big thing to worry about :snork:

Thanks guys. Will have a look when I'm next in. Do they sell them in all stores or is it just you have a good local one?

Every store that sells flowers from what I've seen.

Just a reason not to leave them all stacked outside when not in use, then get in a fix when you need to use them when they fall to pieces as you try and pull them apart, best kept in shed.

Yes, that's my experience. The new design is smart enough to use as a waste bin! I'm on my second year of using the old design and the rims are starting to break, but I'll use them this year, then just chuck them in the recycling and get some more.

The new buckets are 9L capacity if filled to the brim, the old ones were 9.5L, but the big difference is that although only slightly smaller, they now only weigh 130g when the old version weighed 220g, so they're approx. 40% thinner.

When I tried to cut the base out to use as grow ring they kept breaking. Quite brittle but for 89p who am I to complain. I love a bargain!

Try heating up an old kitchen knife over a stove and melting the base off, easily done as it is thin plastic :)
