    Good afternoon @Michael Noble a lovely garden I would just love to fill it up with lots of colour and variety of flowers,but neat is good ,a garden to be proud of my friend;)

    lovely tidy garden, cor wonder if mine 'll ever look that neat [unlikely!!]. I'm new here too and learning slowly.

    Enjoy your successes and know that the failures are repeated plenty of times over in similar ways.

    I've not got a clue about Mulch / Membrane, just do whatever you feel happiest doing, with just a small area / couple of plants initially; then if it doesn't wither & die in a couple of days consider it to have 'worked' and do the lot.

    Oh and put some clean empty sacks in the car to get some Manure next time you're out in the country.

    PS: think it'd maybe be nice to put something tall between you and next door's good condition but un-pretty shed.

      Welcome Michael.. I lived Margate for several years and my wife in Ramsgate. My memories of the soil type in Ramsgate is that it is very chalky and flinty. Not sure how yours is but it my reflect on whats best for your garden. I'm in no way an expert on this forum, just throwing this in for comment.

        Cheers capney yea soil very chalky but no flints but does need a good dig over and a clear out..............
