Thanks Loli - it's a massive beggar and spreads like mad but at least it supports the Phlox growing through it

 

Iris pseudacorus...loves damp wet soil.
Very invasive.

It really is. I've dug out loads of it and just kept a bit for the middle of the bed. Thanks Silver surfer

 

Absolutely brilliant as a pond marginal! I also shoved some in a wire basket that sits perfectly into the top of a half barrel last year and they've romped away in pure water and fallen leaves..

 

And yet mine is flourishing, positively rampaging, in a dusty, dry flower bed

 

It is nothing if not adaptable! Certainly the best clump that I have is in the barrel although the clump in the dry part of the garden is about to bloom first.
