      Yep thought so camellia japonica this needs that special compost doesn't it.

        Yep, ericasious , never could spell that word.:snork:
        Acid compost is easier, or lime free.

        But if the soil is only neutral, you can get away with a dose of sequestrene once a year.

          Hi Adam it is definitely a camellia, I planted one earlier this year as I fell in love with one I've inherited which apparently is about 10 years old, it's about 3m high and is beautiful when in full of bloom.

          I was picking up barrow full of blooms as it had so many...

          When I planted my newly aquired one I mixed Ericaceous fertiliser into some miracle-grow compost and its growing really well.

          Good luck with yours and I look forward to seeing its blooms next spring :dbgrtmb:
