Good afternoon everyone :) I'm fishing for some help :fishing:

When we moved into the garden as you know it was very overgrown and in a terrible mess!

This area was so bad it was strangling everything so I had a good clear out and when I say that....I got rid of what I knew was weed etc.. And left the rest to play ....the waiting game to see what comes up :spinning:

    image.jpg

In spring lots of primroses and primula wonderful colours, a few daffs struggled so I've taken the bulbs up and currently storing in the shed.

Beautiful Irisis, the odd poppy... And now very very full of this......

I have no idea what it is and if it is plant or weed? I have it in another area too and will be starting to clear it out as I want to put more colour into the garden.

Although I'm on the waiting game it would be lovely if I knew what it is! I've been searching the Internet :pcthwack: but getting nowhere!

    :ThankYou: For any info :dbgrtmb:

I'd say that was Loosetrife as well. Goldenrod tends to be a more 'feathery' looking plant and I don't think it has those prominent growths from where you get 'suckers' on tomatoes, I call it the crotch but I'm sure there's some fancy-shmancy botanical word for it :noidea:.

The more I look at it.....the more I am convinced that it MAYBE loosestrife...

If it is this I'm happy to leave it this summer, then make the decision do I like it or should something nicer be planted in its place... One area is already being dug over as don't fancy it everywhere

Time no doubt will tell :heehee:

I think definitely Solidago ( one form is Golden Rod, but there are others).
Solidago always bows it's head (if you know what I mean) when it's getting ready to flower.

The biggest thrill with learning about plants Apple Blossom, is when you're walking around a nursery or gardens and someone asks you the name of a plant and you can answer it. :) I remember the first time that happened to me and I was surprised at myself because it was such an unusual plant.....a Crinodendron. I still keep an eye on the id forum here, learning about new plants all the time and occasionally being corrected by other members.
