            Sorry Ziggers, but it needs to be closer to the leaves, ie smaller diameter :thumbsup: I'd also have it a bit higher up. :)

              Update on my onions...

              Largest measuring in at 13.25" circumference as of this morning, with another 5 measuring over 11". Still putting on 1.5-2.5 inch in girth per week...

                      i have two real beauties, however, as per my 'winter onions - disaster' thread, you will see that i have white rot down there! They wont be lasting much longer. I'll take a quick pic whilst i can to show you lot before they rot away.

                      I've enjoyed growing these this year so will definitely do them again, however they will have to be in their own plant pots out of the plot soil. Might grow them in the polytunnel actually to get some proper growth!

                            Mines put on another inch in 5 days:

                            Decided to eat the smallest one, but it was rotten inside. So had the next smallest - that had started to bolt but tasted OK. Hope the rest will be OK.
