    Hi Everyone,

One of these days I may be able to answer a question on this forum!...but in the meantime...

Bimbling around the shop this weekend...picked up a rose arch for £9.99. Nothing fancy, just something to split the two sections of the rear garden. I'm now looking for a nice climber - something evergreen, self clinging, doesn't need pruning back every year and is tolerant of wind and clay soil. I live on the side a hill which means it can get breezy around here.

Nice to have's would be flowering and scented - but not essential.

Appreciate any recommendations as to suitable plants (if indeed such a 'beast' exists).

    Thanks very much,
    Chris

    Hi Chris

That's a bit of a tall order to have a climber that doesn't need regular pruning. Anyway what first comes to mind to suit your conditions would perhaps be an Lonicera Japonica (evergreen honeysuckle). I have one (inherited so unsure of the name) and it is a lovely plant, smells luverly and is a fairly tidy climber and does need a clip a couple of times a year to keep it where you want it (but easy to prune). I've got a windy old garden perhaps not as exposed as yours, but it does well. I've owned 'Halliana' in a different garden which was good also.

Hopefully others can provide some other options.

    GG

Got to agree - honeysuckle was the first thing that I thought of reading your post :blue thumb:

Thanks both - I'll see if they have any honeysuckle for sale when we visit the Tatton Park flower show in July :blue thumb: Really looking forward to it.:hapydancsmil:
