    Hi all,

OK, this is asking a bit much, but any help appreciated. A lot of pictures follow, with some of my guesses...

    Front garden

    Some kind of fir tree
    [IMG]

    No idea!

    And again
    [IMG]

    Is this cornflower?

    Stumpy fir tree
    [IMG]

    Back garden

    Is this a locust tree?

    Maybe a cherry?

    Peonies?

A single rose! The bush has black spots on the leaves, which I am sure is not good. My Mum thought this might be a Queen Elizabeth.

    Another tree

The yellow is presumably laburnum, but not sure what's in front
    [IMG]

    Pretty bush
    [IMG]

    Is this a weed?

    More trees

    And a few more

I have been loooking through you pics Amanensia but trees and shrubs are not my strong point.

You seem to have guessed most of them correctly ie Fir tree, possibly a type of Abies or Picea (Spruce) Cherry, Paeony, Cornflower (Centaurea).

The yellow leaved tree is either Gleditsia (Locust) or Robinia (False Acacia). I would need to see the other trees and shrubs a bit closer for a better ID.

You have a good selection of trees and shrubs even if you (we) don't know what they are.:)

I know nothing about trees, but your plants look like Centaurea (perennial cornflower), Paeony and Rose. The problem with naming plants such as Roses and Dahlias is that there are around 40,000 different varieties, many of which look almost the same.

The weed, I think, is not a weed. It could be a Penstomen. The narrow leaved ones are usually the hardiest.

:thmb: I agree with Peter & Strongy, sure your weed is a Penstemon... Your Peonies & Cornflowers are looking good..

It really would be a help if you took some closer, more detailed shots of leaves & if any flowers on your shrubs as they are too far away to see clearly..

 Woo might be the one to ID your Rose, he will be back in a few days I think, so you could put that one in the rose forum Amanensia... :)

Otherwise try & get some closer pics of the others... :thmb:

Many thanks for the replies - sorry it's taken me a while to acknowledge them, but our internet is down at the moment. I'll take some better, close up pictures of a few things this weekend. I'm getting quite excited about all this - gardening is very new to me. The lawn is still a bit ropey with lots of thistles bases and dandelion mess about but I'm hoping a bit more weed-and-feed and frequent mowing will sort most of that out.
