      Hi Shiney.

Your travelogues are brilliant, the pictures, (which are not the usual travel brochure ones) and your comments about them. As you get time, please put up the rest. They are very informative.

        Thanks :blue thumb:

I've got about another 40 countries on digital photos. I don't think I'll get around to my other photos which are on print or slide.

I used to use a half frame slide camera over 50 years ago and I've still got them somewhere in the cupboard. In 1963 we were chugging through the South Atlantic at about 17 knots when we were overhauled and passed by a sailing ship!! It looked fantastic as it came up over the horizon behind us. Very reminiscent of the films about pirates. She was a four-masted ship belonging to Argentina and was headed for the tall ships race. She was running before a very strong wind and we saw the masts and sails come up over the horizon and, eventually, pass us and disappear over the horizon in front of us.

If the slides are still in good condition I'd have to find some way of transferring them to digital if I wanted to put them up here. We were about two days out from St Helena at the time.

I could look at a Tall Ship for ever. (Wouldn't like to work on one, though) :)

I have a machine for transferring slides to digital. I used it for slides I took when I wrote for a boating magazine. (Sadly now not published anymore. The online age. :( ) I can post it to you if you like. Let me know today because I'm flying to the UK tonight for a funeral.

That's generous of you :). I've just done a quick check on Amazon and I can buy one for £40. If you posted it to me you may have to pay quite a bit so it may be better to buy one (unless your funeral is close to Shineyland).

EDIT: Having looked at some of them it appears that some are quite small. So it may be fairly cheap to post, depending on what you have. I'd be happy to send you a cheque if you PM me an address.

I'm flying with only a carry-on case so if I can fit it in I'll bring it with me and post it from the UK.

If I don't have room for it, I'll wait 'til I come back and post it from here. I don't want a cheque (unless the postage is £50. :) :)

When I saw the heading, I thought it was about the freebie from Sky TV.

If anyone is interested, go to the tv planner and check the section that shows 'Rio'
click on the freebie section, et Voila !
