Thank you for the compliment Russ. :) When it comes to gardening/working with plants I feel it's better giving a full explanation. Leaving in particular, a new member to read between the lines could be a disaster for their learning experience and their plants.

No, the Blue Pills will keep you up, so to speak, wear the Special Jacket after taking them and get someone else to fasten the buckles.:snork:

Hi Rosebay. Thank you for the welcome. Indeed I do. I always make time, everyday to go through the forums and learn so much from you all. There are some amazing transformations and projects going on and always something to learn from the posts on here. I have used sand and every compost going to try to maintain a balance. Only to be replaced this year to compare results. My biggest problem is that since February, my father had a fall. In south west London! We now spend between 4 to 5 days here (with dad) and then spend the next 3 to 5 days in south west London due to hospital and doctors appointments for him. This means that the garden doesn't get the attention full time.

Have installed an automated watering system here which is nearly finished but I am now trying to work out a system for use on a balcony without a water supply. It keeps the mind working though and still learning. He he!

Ah yes, I too have been affected by caring for my mother. Up until a year ago, I was living with her (for 2 years) as her full time carer. She is now in a good care home (due to her deterioration).

I tended to both her front and back garden, plus my front and back garden too! (Which is nearby). Both back gardens had hoses but all that lugging watering cans to the front gardens so often was very laborious in the summer.

Aww, Rosebay. Good on you. It does take some effort. Having to travel the south circular backwards and forwards on a regular basis, I'm always wondering how the plants are surviving here. I'm now more confident that they are getting watered with my system ( separate post to follow) but am always wondering what is currently munching my plants and knowing I can't do anything about it. I always hold my breath as I open the back door to see what state the garden is in. I'm mostly pleasantly surprised though.

What a brilliant transformation - you have obviously put in a lot of hard work and your efforts have paid off. See that's the great thing about mother nature.

If only, Anthony. Thanks for the compliment but as for relaxing, I just can't do it. I'm constantly changing things. I sit there in the sun in the late afternoon with a beer in hand looking around and then decide to move things around (again). The whole cycle starts again with pots being moved and then I read this superb forum and take away the knowledge to reconsider if things are in the right place regarding sun/shade. etc. I'm really looking forward to next season as I've learned from my past mistakes and look forward to trying new techniques and positions. Cheers!
