I have found a second rose in my garden right next to the Austin rose I uncovered a while back under overgrown shrubs and a tree. Never knew this was in the garden and never seen it before it popped up a few days ago .

I'm wondering if anyone could provide me with some basic info on it and some basic care so it can thrive better. As you may be able to see the plant is obviously established some years as there is a dead old bit from which two spindly branches have popped up. Looks very feeble. Not sure if it can be identified but would like to know what to expect. Is smells nice and is fairly small. It has been planted right in the middle of a shrubby border so hoping it is not a climber.

Sorry bit of a rubbish photo but just snapped with my phone.
              Thanks
              GG

Thanks Sheal, the only problem with patio roses ( or the ones we've got ) is that they're not scented.

I didn't realise that. I'd miss that, it's an automatic reaction for me to take a good sniff when I'm around my roses. :)

I don't think rose thorns like anyone Jimcub but you can buy thornless ones. :)

Yesterday I went to Aldi, and they had a bin full of Old roses. Well at £1.79 I found a Reine des Violettes had jumped into my trolley! Now I know it's grown as a shrub rose, but could I train it as a short climber?
