It is a lonicera. Part of the honeysuckle family. The flower threw me for a moment, but doing a quick google it does flower!

I'm guessing its a lonicera pileata, but you can get a golden version, most common being lonicera 'baggesen's gold'.

They are tough as old boots, and a single stem shoved into the ground will grow I believe.

    Hope this Helps

It's a Sophora, not certain which one, but probably Sophora Sun King.

Thanks to both of you but you have a different view as to what it is. I shall have alook at both the suggestions and see if there is anything on the web to clarify it.
    Thanks again

Is that the one that is traditionally used as hedging in cottage gardens? Grows quite densely?

    David where have you been?

Have you noticed Wikibloodypedia has exactly the same picture for microphylla as it has for tetraptera.

Cor, I like the look of that when I have googled it. I remember seeing it some years ago in (I think) Chester Zoo and liking it then. However, looks like there is not a huge amount of places to buy one from! £95.00 from Wye-evil s00k

    anyone tried them from seed?
