My biggest pet hate in the world is ruddy iPads, iPhones, phones, kindles etc being used at the dinner table/restaurant/bar etc! Firstly all these devices are covered in germs! Secondly use your ruddy knife & fork....yes you need both hands, thirdly if you are at a dinner table/bar etc you should be engaging in conversation NOT checking facebook, texts, emails, snapper chats (or whatever it's called) honestly it drives me bonkers! :gaah::gaah::gaah:

I work with Environmental Health on trying to educate restaurateurs. There are three major things to look out for.

Never shake hands with the staff when entering the restaurant (you don't know what's been on the hands of other customers that have shaken their hands).
The menus have the most bacteria.
This is closely followed by the underside of the edge of the chairs.

Wash your hands after having handled the menus and placed your order.

Norovirus contracted in restaurants and on cruise ships (the two most reported upon places - but also happens in schools, hospitals etc.) is generally brought in by the general public.

We eat out a lot and are not bothered by any danger of illness. The hardest thing is to not shake hands as the owners and staff know us well. Having explained it to them we now don't have any problem.

We entertain a lot and don't allow these at the table (except if needed for business - and these people go out of the room to take a call).

Sorry @Shiney,just got back from a three mile walk so will have to tell Mr Know it all what to do when he has finished stuffing his face full of crisps (and that is after a big dinner, and a scone):snork:

I am beginning to dislike people who have spent 66 years hoarding stuff only to have some mug (us) having to clear it all out of their house.Who really needs to keep a roll of worn out lino rolled up against a bedroom wall for forty five years and then have it disintegrate into a million pieces when it has to be got rid of:yikes: and that is only part of the problem:mute:

There was a topic on this on a farming forum and most of the time it is a young fella that just turns on every light just to be seen driving a tractor. But there is genuine farmers out there that turn them all on for a reason and to slow the traffic down that's coming up behind them and switch them off when a vehicle is behind them. And yes I sometimes do it [emoji29]

I may have had a moan about this before but it's a good time to do it again :heehee: - with apologies to anyone here that I may be referring to :noidea:

Watching the weather report on TV early this morning reminded me of it.

I dislike people talking very fast. Particularly when they don't put a pause at the end of a sentence, and run the next one as though it's a part of the first one.

Apart from making the listener having to work very hard to follow them, it gives the impression that they don't want anyone interrupting what they are saying.

This is counterproductive as far as I'm concerned. I either switch off physically (if it's the radio or TV) or mentally if in person. The 'in person' part can result in me ignoring them/their argument, or walking away, or asking them to slow down.

Politicians that talk fast (new ones tend to do it as they think it stops people interrupting) are then trained to slow down. They're also trained to stop the interrupting by ignoring the interrupters :heehee:.

I hire speakers for some of the organisations that I run and if they speak fast they don't get hired.
