.... probably not if I don't put these pictures up. :D

The following was taken at about 8.20 this morning so 'rush hour' in our local town ... that is the main street and there's not much more to it than that.

This is the delivery of drugs to our chemist which doesn't open till 9am .... left on the pavement as one would expect, being completely ignored by passersby. Some days there are 4-6 boxes stacked often with a cooler box on top ... I wonder what it contains?

I've been meaning to get a photo of this for a couple of years ... but I rarely have an early-morning dentist appointment as I did today.

I guess the local people are more trusting/trustworthy than is the case here.

One time while on holiday in Menorca we went on a tour (organised locally, not the overpriced holiday company ones). The local guide was explaining quite frankly that when the shops shut for siesta, they used to leave most of their produce outside so that the locals could help themselves to anything they'd forgot to buy in for dinner. They would then return to the shop later and pay for what they had taken. The shops had to stop doing this as the island became popular with tourists because they found that stuff would be taken and then not paid for later.

Oddly enough, it is not all over the UK where we have become untrustworthy it seems. Last year when I was on holiday in Cornwall, I was amused by the fact that a charity collecting tin was outside a shop, at night, containing cash and nobody nicked it in the entire week I was there. As if that's not odd enough, the tin was directly opposite a pub, yet even the drunks left it alone.

Hmmm it cant be medicine as they wouldnt just leave it there .... surely ???? If any sort of medicine got into the wrong hands it could potentially be very dangerous, so cant see it being that.

Haven't a clue what it could be though as anything with any value shouldnt just be left out in the street. Not only that but you would think any delivery would have to be signed for.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe its the leaflet type things you see sometimes in chemists. They are free, so wouldnt matter if they were taken off the doorstep. Not sure they would be put in containers though

Think your going to have to go in and ask - even if its just so that I know :hehe:

Clueless - my OH's mother lives in Weymouth and she still leaves the door unlocked most of the time. Its so natural to her and yet seems so wrong for me.

When OH and his children moved up here to the midlands, they didnt quite understand the way things are here either!

Just goes to show what a difference 180 miles makes.

I'm sure there are some good places still in the UK.

Sam, we NEVER lock our cars here and quite often I get up and open the door to find the keys on the OUTSIDE. Also we leave windows wide open and go out ... not necessarily intentionally .... :dh:

We live in a 'community' of five houses, we being the only foreigners and the one was the Chief of Police for Algarve (he sadly died suddenly last year of a heart attack aged 54 after retiring early). I guess we should be more diligent and cautious but ...

By the way, we are not in a 'tourist' area. but quite rural although we are only 15-20 minutes from the beaches. :)

I was in Lavenham in Suffolk a couple of weeks back, where they have a rather impressive Church. When I went inside, there was quite a large gift shop at the back, all lit up and open for business, yet there was nobody to take the money... on the till was a box that just said pay for what you take. So yes, I suppose it just depends on where you are. I was very surprised though.

The only thing left outside shops round here are bundles of newspapers, if they weren't cumbersome and of low value they would probably be nicked.

I remember when I was a lad there were cigarette machines on the streets.
