    Hi everyone!

New to the forum so please bear with me, as you can see from the pictures below our garden is really quite large. The main reason for posting these pictures is that we are wanting to kill all the weeds including bindweed, as you can see its full of weeds. I have put black sheeting down where it will be gravelled but I am at a lost end of how to clear the rest of the garden. Any ideas of how to do this would be much appreciated, we would ideally like to put a lawn down at some point. Thank you in advance!

      Roundup.

The best way to get rid of bindweed is to cut it off at soil level. Don't bother pulling it up; it will just sprout wherever you tore the roots. It's impossible to get all of the roots out but by continually cutting it off at ground level, and doing it as soon as you can, you will eventually starve the plant and it will die. You will however, have to do it several times but it will work.

Thank you everyone for all the replies. I have just been out and bought some Round Up Pro 360 its an undiluted formula so i have to dilute it. So what I am now thinking is to create a border around where you can see the black sheeting gravel it and then round up the rest of the garden. I don't suppose you could give me some good ideas for a cheap border? Also thank you Laurie I am on your website now!

I am doing this on my tablet which I use when I cannot use my computer , it is very limited and I cannot get Tapatalk on my computer. From what I can see I would Weedkill the whole area ,leave for a few weeks then dig . what sort of border flowers, vegetables , shrubs ?

When I moved into a new house a few years ago the back garden went downhill, so we built it up with sleepers, top soiled it and grassed it, only leaving a boarder round the edge. As we had absolutely no plants and it was the back end of the season (like now), I went and bought a huge amount of reduced perennials and shrubs that the garden centres were selling off and planted them. The year after they grew back and filled a lot of the space that we had. I then added specimen plants and bedding. There were one or two of the shrubs and perennials that I moved to other areas, but apart from that, the garden looked so much better.

A belated welcome to GC :sign0016:, just back from holiday so just doing a bit of catching up.

I too had a lot of weeds in our new garden and use roundup on a regular basis, it does what it says and kills the roots... however be warned that they will keep popping up :heehee:

I can see from your photos that you have lots to do so will look forward to watching your project grow and catching up in the forums :spinning:
