Whats this on me tatties?

    First attempt this year at growing potatoes (they're in bags) Ive just pulled them up & some look like this...:scratch:

    Scab. Caused by too much lime in the compost. Potatoes prefer a slightly acid soil. They are still edible, you just need to peel them that's all. There are varieties which are supposed to be resistant to Scab.

      Ours are the same @Cannyfullpots but they make lovely bakers(skins split in places thou) as i found out for tea tonight,i knew it was scab but no idea it was caused by lime,Thanks @Palustris :blue thumb:
