I did a few rose cuttings around two/three years ago. Most just turned black and the one that rooted eventually died the year after... so not tried since!

I would think up to a couple of months to produce roots.

I think its fairly normal to take cuttings in the open ground late summer.
Then dont dig them up until the winter after i.e about 18 months.

I've got a few I took this time last year, a couple even flowered in the summer, but I wont lift them until dormant in winter.

Dunno, I've never tried to root them in a propagator?

I'd not move something from a propagator to the garden at this time of the year.

My guess is that if you are sure they have no roots, the new growth is just being supported by the humidity in the propagator.
If they dont root soon, the chances are they might die.

Lifted my rose cuttings to day, these were taken July 14, so have been undisturbed for over a year.
Reasonable roots, the strongest one has produced the best root system.
They were taken from a Bush that had almost completely been overtaken by root suckers, something that cannot happen now, if I can keep them alive.

That's good root growth on them for their size Pete. They should grow into strong, healthy plants. :dbgrtmb:

I usually have good success with roses, I just get about a foot long cutting and shove in the ground. All seems to work for the conditions in my garden.
