I cut a fair few lawns and my rover lawnmower getting a bit tired. I know where there is a Honda ride on lawnmower which could be for sale but always lays outside. Before I ask if it is for sale anyone know how much fuel they drink, maintenance costs etc

Expensive when they break. My petrol ride on uses about 5litres for 5 cuts(1/4 acre). Maintenance is yearly oil change, grease points, new plug, pennies.
    New tyre c.£30. belts 30, battery 40,
Just change oil and always wash underside of the deck and it will last you years. Mine has 30 years so far. :fingers crossed:

The lawnmower I use now I change the oil every month. Could be 20hrs interval. Uses roughly 1 litre per hr. Oil change would be about €6. I know nothing about acreage. How many hrs would it take to cut 1/4 acre ?

Takes about 20 mins if its not wet and long.
A litre an hour is excessive loss ?. What oil do you use ? The reason i ask is i used to use sae30 which was about 5 quid a litre but now use 5w 30 fully synthetic instead and costs c. £11 for 5 litres.

It's €4 for 500ml but the lawn mower needs 600ml so prob be less than €6. Not sure what kind of oil but il check in the morning.

I bought a secondhand MTD ride on which has a Briggs and Stratton engine, uses a gallon almost all summer I have a large garden which takes 15 mins to do.
It's a bit overkill but it also has a trailer to move heavy bits around, but stranded in the shed now as I broke a special nut so been out of action for 2 weeks and stock is scarse.

Looks like a ride on is the way forward. My worry was that they be sore on petrol and would have to charge more. I just need get a big enough Trailer for it and also to take the grass away

If that machine is outside most of its life you would want to check the condition of the cutting deck....if thats rusted out you will prob spend in the region of 250 for new deck and fitted if your lucky.....if all ok, you will need to give it a full service which you can do yourself.....
