I've just found out that Morrisons are withdrawing the 'match' element of their loyalty card scheme - no more points earned if your comparable shop would have been cheaper in Aldi or Lidl.

They are shooting themselves in the foot. :dunno:

Existing Morrisons customers who have used the match and more scheme, now know how much more expensive Morrisons can be - but they were quite happy to continue to shop at Morrisons - safe in the knowledge that they would get the difference back in vouchers.

All this is about to end on 2nd November - because we are told the existing scheme is too complicated for customers to understand (bit insulting to state this).

Our regular weekly shop at Morrison has netted us £65 worth of vouchers in the last 10 months - which we are planning to spend on purchasing foods for Christmas lunch :reindeer lights: - the Morrison shopping basket was that much more expensive over a 10 month period.

A new Aldi is opening up shortly and its only a couple of miles away - we may well take a look Mr Morrison.

Well, I use Aldi and Lidl nearly all of the time because of the quality and, of course, the price . Some years ago I used Morrisons for most of my shopping but now just get tins of cat food and a particular brand of coffee......that's it.:dunno:
The reason I stopped using Morrisons and Tesco is the so called marketing "special offers" that kept appearing. They were supposed to be a bargain but when you looked properly the special offer of a pack of 4 tins of beans was more expensive than buying four single cans of the same beans, the same happening with, say, margarine where a large carton cost more than two smaller cartons totaling the same weight. Those "offers" just seemed to increase over time and got even more blatantly dishonest as though the marketing people of Morrisons seemed to believe that customers were morons. So I stopped shopping at the main Superstores because I became disillusioned with their seemingly identical prices for most items, the increasing number of fake "special offers", and what appeared to be their belief that their customers were stupid and would believe anything.:gaah:

Tend to use morrisons, its the nearest and the range of products is quite good I find .
Tesco is rubbish regarding choice, you buy what they want to sell you, of hard luck mate, and the last time I looked in Sainsburys most of the shelves were empty.

Last used Lidl when I bought a stepladder on offer, and as to Aldi, not sure where there is one.

I do kind of like Morrisons for choice mainly and the fish cant be beaten, but I too think they have taken a wrong turn.
Got an E mail from them today stating its because they have listened to the customers and taken on board what they are saying.
Total crap, its the new prat in charge at the top.

The only large supermarket I use is Aldi, partly because it's the only one within walking distance of the town center ( the others are all situated around the ring road or in the CO-OP's case about 3 miles from town ) but mainly because I find the independent shops/market offer better value.

When you think about it, they had no control over the "Match" part it was all based on what other stores were charging, now they have total control and can award points on any piece of tat they are having trouble shifting.

Simple, why didn't they think of that in the first place:snork:

Lidl's advert made us laugh the other day. They keep putting these price comparison ads on with their own brand and the other day they put one on with their own brand Caramel Wafers £1 against Tunnocks ( I think they were £1-50ish ). We buy the Tunnicks every week and depending what shop we get them from they are either 89p or £1.

They should be banned from doing ads like this.

Over here, many stores offer price matching. You present an ad from a competitor and the price is adjusted to match their sale.

We get sales flyers from about 20 local storex so it is worthwhile to go through them. I pass br a lot of yhesd shops while out on business and stop in to grab good deals while in the area, if I'm in the mood :)

Well im a total tart , faithfull to no one single supermarket. Aldi and lidl used tobe cheap back in the day when it was just the shop manager , one assistant and a couple of customers in the shop. Everyone else was too embarrassed to be seen innthe place.
Now they are full of customers and have ramped up their prices accordingly. If you look past their weekly promos they arent much cheaper than the big boys.
So I shop from offer to offer supermarket to supermarket.

I eat well and eat very cheap

@WeeTam im going to join you...I'm a total tart too, I shop all over the place BUT I just can't do Tesco, the whole thing gives me the jitters!! The car park is hopeless, the shop is awful, the pricing is a disgrace, the staff..no comment & the bags..totally useless! :gaah:
So I do a weekly shop, the bulk of the stuff I need then I do a few bits here & there & always check for offers. I do like Aldi I too admit to being a bit snooty about it at first but when I saw a friends grocery bill I was so amazed I had to take a peep & have used them for odd bits since, the wine is a good price :hapydancsmil:& I really like their cheese & frozen potato wedges! We don't have a lidl close enough to make it worth my while but next time I go to Thetford I'm going to have a peep! Our Waitrose is smashing, it's quite small & the checkout ladies & gentlemen are so nice, our sainsburys can be a bit hit & miss, we also have an asda which can be good for deals on washing powder & soft drinks if we have a Bbq or friends coming with children :hate-shocked:, we are also blessed with a co-op but that can be very pricey if you aren't careful. I'm such a bargain hunter! :heehee:

We use Morrisons for a few essentials and special offers to get free town centre parking, not only locally, even on holidays.

Only ever spent enough in there to qualify for 'match' points when they've sent money off vouchers and only managed to get up to the spend threshold by deliberately buying stuff we use that's a lot cheaper elsewhere, so say spending £30 in lieu £20, using £5 off £30 voucher, getting for £25 plus £10 in vouchers, using the next week's money off voucher the same way but also using the £10's worth of match vouchers.

Finding receipts for big shops in their car parks where M&M cards haven't been used has netted us loads of points by taking them to customer services and getting them put on our cards (multiple accounts increases amount of vouchers sent).

I don't have any trouble understanding how it works.

They're all at it these days, including B&Q, but they didn't catch me with this special offer.

As Morrison's customer I believe that they have made a big mistake. We will continue to shop there because we love the quality of the meats, fish and vegetables but I am sure that many will not be as loyal.
I cannot stand Aldi and Lidle, they offer a limited choice, the quality is not as good in my opinion and I do not like the "when it's gone it's gone" idea. I like to know that what I want will be there week in and week out.

They've rearranged everything in our local store, can't find half the stuff I want now, despite all the lables above the isles.

Was just looking for a tin of pineapple, the isle labled tinned fruit was full.....

                            Of boxes of crisps....
