Looks great:thumb: I'd recommend living with it for a couple of weeks and see if you get any more ideas, rather than rushing out to get stuff for the gravelled area. Inspiration will come, probably from looking at other gardens!

Some ferns in decorative planters would look good there though...

If money is tight, take a wander round a car boot sale or second hand shop and see if you can find something different for planters. Shop bought stuff can look a bit "everywhere" if you know what I mean.

    Yes, patience is required!

Well thats blown in then ..... no patience here :hehe:

Its not that money is so much of an issue ..... am just getting tight in my old age i think ! :old: Other half keeps saying just get whatever I want, the money is there etc but I just feel a bit guilty sometimes on the amount im spending on the garden when really I am the only one who enjoys it.

Am going to have a look today for a reasonably prices bench (i think) .... would really like one of those "love seats" or "companion seats" .... the two chairs joined together by a table. Just didnt realise how pricey they are though !! Will trawl through ebay see if I can pick one up somewhere.

See this is where i get tight now ..... as dont wanna be spending a fortune on something thats going to get sat on a few times a year, if that!! Other half says to get whatever .... think he is just fed up of me talking about it now :hehe:

Take a look in junk shops for a garden bench as well. I want a "rusticated" one for a section of the garden - the more falling apart the better!

Have you thought about a pergola over the top of the area? I remember seeing it done on City Gardener (i think) in a similar side return and it looked great. You could add one or two bigger growing plants as well - fatsia japonica was suggested which is very nice plant.

    Looking good.

On the gravel if you wanted something with a different look how about a small number of large rocks or even a small staute?

Good suggestion Gaz - had already run that past the other half, but he said it will make the lounge and the kitchen even darker than they are already so that was quickly ruled out!

    Thanks Little Miss :)

Will post some more photos tomorrow when the sun is out. Brought a bench at the weekend. Well one of those companion seats/love bench things. Other half says its too big for the area but I always wanted one and had no where to put it before ......... I think it looks fine! He still instist its far too big (ok maybe it is a tad) but mum and sister think it looks ok too!
Need to get the garden tap moved now though as cant get to it :dh: Have someone coming to look at the leaking toilet tomorrow so will ask if they can do that too ..... why is it everything breaks at once huh ? First the back door, now the toilet .... oh and the hot water has packed up too :( Thank god we have an electric shower!!!

Hmmmm .... also waiting for someone to come and look at the bay window at the front as the seal has gone on that and all the glass is misty so cant view the plants out the front now properly either

Still have to have the tap moved though but had so much on this week already.

On a plus note ...... new toilet has been fitted. Gas man has been today to look at boiler but needs parts so he wont be back till next week now. No sign of window man - was supposed to come yesterday to measure up but didnt show, so is now supposed to coming today but no sign of him so far!!

Thanks :) Am glad you both dont think its too big either, I dont but OH still does !

The window guy eventually turned up and is coming back on Wednesday apparently. The whole 6 panels of glass in the bay window need replacing. All the seals have gone :(

Least my garden is getting there though :) :)

Hi Sam'it's all looking good. You have been working hard! It all looks very neat and tidy.
All we need now is a pic of you on the seat with a glass [or two] on the table. :luv:
