0)I've got a south facing kitchen. The outside wall is sunny and hot in the summer. Any ideas how I could create one of those Wall Gardens with all the plants hanging down and a pump to circulate the water?:lollol:

Yes that is on a massive scale, I guess you would still need to follow the same principles or providing damp proofing to stop your house getting mouldy and some sort of irrigation system even for a smaller set up. I seem to remember from the TV programme that they used some proprietary system of vertical troughs.

Should that not be horizontal? If vertical all the water will run out the bottom

PeterGreenMan, I think I understand now. You do not need a pump, just a method to irrigate the plants. a soaker hose would be good or a micro dripper system. I can't see a recycled system being of any use, or practicable.

Yes I didn't mean that. Each trough is like a long planter, what I meant was the system of troughs stack vertically up the wall, on top of each other. The idea is the water runs down from the top one to the next below etc etc through drainage holes.

Would that not mean the first trough gets all the nutrients and the last almost none? (nutrients, not water)

But anyway, I would say its of no use to PeterGreenMan, for a small / medium wall all that will be required is a small watering / irrigation system.

Or it might even be the other way around watergarden, the nutrients might leach from the top and accumulate at the bottom. They are not my cup of tea, they are far too complex and must be very expensive to maintain.
