This reminds me of a situation when I was a teenager. There was a girl who really fancied my best mate. My mate wasn't interested but was too spineless to tell her. He thought I was better than him at tact, so asked me to phone her and pretend to be him, and gently knock her back.

I agreed to do it.

This was when he learned that no matter how much you trust your mates, you just can't give them an opportunity to drop you in it.

I phoned the girl. I pretended to be my mate. But in hindsight rather cruelly, instead of knocking her back, I apologised for being aloof with her, and with my best acting voice, shyly explained that I'd fancied her for ages but had been too shy to admit it, but now I know she feels that way too, I couldn't just let it go, and would she like to come out to dinner at the town's most expensive restaurant on Friday night.

 

Geezer, you have the perfect opening WHEN YOU CALL HER. "out of respect for you dear I really want to call you to tell you how flattered I am at you invite to contact you. " If you take on the sincere gentleman approach, the 30 somethings jump at it. Remember they do not get that from their 30 something boys they have to deal with.
How much in your 50, dam, I recall in my 30's there was a hot, truly hot 58 year old I was involved with. She must have saw something.

 

Early 50's @redstar I am looking for same age, but only ever get 30 somethings. I am not really shy, but I would feel like a pest after already texting, and I am not one for chasing to be honest. I will dwell on it for a few days

And did they both live happily ever after? Or did you lose touch with both of them afterwards?

Neither. I'm still in contact with the mate in question. Not seen the girl for years, but we were never close anyway. And no they didn't get together.

 

Hang in there, @NorthantsGeezer frankly, I think one phone call is enough. after all she gave you her's. see if she calls back. if not, move on.

 

The right person is out there for you NG just don't look to hard because it will happen in time, it's called fate.

 

You might be what I call "a silver fox" northants. That's why your attracting all the 30 something's. Don't knock it age is just a number. There's a decade between me and my husband and at 37 I like older guys still over the younger ones.
