Just for the record, it seems fine for me today.

@Jiffy - I haven't had any notifications for months now, I just assume that there is a spanner in the works somewhere and don't rely on them at all. I'm sure Zig as GC's resident IT whizkid could look into it for you, but perhaps he has his hands full of those 'long string things' he is currently fixing ;)

Had a look in Jiffy's shoebox, but there's nothing I can tick or untick to change the notifications settings :dunno:

I'll get a stronger teather for the goat and in the meantime draw @Webmaster attention to it.

I think we're gonna need a bigger goat.

And just when you thought there couldn't possibly be anything more ...

... went to edit a post and the box popped up with teeny tiny writing (had to get my magnifying glass out!)

Formatting issue for that one, perhaps? :dunno:

I'd be willing to wager as much as 37 pence, that all your long running script issues are to do with either the ads or Google analytics. Most probably the ads.

I'll wager that because the site makes a lot of Ajax calls, calls will queue because a browser can only make a limited number of concurrent requests. I'll further wager that at least one of said Ajax calls is not configured to run asynchronously, in which case a slow response from another server, eg the ads server, results in a request hanging, and possibly causing the long running script message, or equally possibly holding a port, blocking other requests, causing other threads to hang.

That's what my 37p wager is on. I have no way to test this theory, because I gave up the laptop. I've never tried opening a developer / debug console on my phone, but I imagine it's tedious if it's even possible.

Search facility isn't working at all for me. Whatever I search for, I simply get 'No results found'.

Everything else seems to be working fine for me though.

Have you been selecting a 'Newer Than' date, because even searching for a word used yesterday will produce no results for me, but after searching using a start date, all of a sudden subsequent GC searches will then start finding that and other words searched for in 100's of posts going back many years.
