Hello to all

Hi,
My name is Jim. I'm a teaching assistant for children with autism and I run a couple of horticulture sessions each week for KS3/4 and P16students.
I'm a bit of a novice gardener but love to learn and it's of great benefit to our students.
We have a large polytunnel with raised beds and benches inside, a large outside raised bed and plenty of border space. We try to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers (with varying degrees of success!) to use in cooking lessons or sell in our school shop.
I'm looking forward to sharing any ideas and issues with you all.

One of my grandchildren is Autistic and my daughter in law started a little gardening program at his school. I purchased brightly coloured hand tools which are made out of heavy duty pvc for her to use in this program because the are easy to spot and not overlooked and they work well with adolescent hands. They are surprisingly tough and I now keep them in the greenhouse for me too!
