Another day of cloudy skies with patches of blue peeking out here and there, Having said that the Sun was not really visible so the temperature never got up above 54f. Then, around 5pm, the skies started to clear and the clouds have disappeared so I might get a chance of using the scope. I don't think that will last long as there is a large front forecast by the Met Office carrying the ex-snow storm from the USA that should arrive during the night. The temperature right now is 44f and the pressure reading is 1019mbs.

Warm again today 12'c/55'f with sunny spells but the wind is picking up now
Thx @"M" for the kind words. Little Mowgley was a little upset but we've said that we'll get another one from the cat rescue centre in a few weeks time :yahoo:

The sun put in an appearance for a while this afternoon but the wind is still with us to spoil it. 9C/48F

The island is on a weather warning again, expecting 70mph winds and flooding tomorrow. The authorities here are starting to use their heads and susceptible roads are being closed before it arrives in the early hours of tomorrow morning. One of our bridges still hasn't been re-built since the last deluge and having seen the forecast for the next couple of weeks I wouldn't bother just yet.

A different wind direction this time, I hope my greenhouse stays put!

I am hoping your weather forecasters are exaggerating this. Best of luck and know that many are crossing their fingers for you, me included!

Thanks Lori. :) They are usually pretty good at forecasting here on the island but I've just taken a look at the Jetstream map. I don't think it will be as bad as they say but I also could be wrong. However, whatever we get tomorrow is going to be a pussy cat compared to next weekend. :doh:I just hope the weather pattern changes between now and then.

That's almost exactly what my son said a few weeks back. :) He lives in America and apparently 50mph winds are described as a severe gale there. He said it was just a summer breeze here in Britain. :heehee:

I'm supposed to be going out to dinner tomorrow evening, not looking good is it?

It's 7.8C at the moment and dry. The wind is starting to pick up a bit though. Gales and rain are forecast for later. What's new! :rolleyespink:

Its 6C here, almost all of the snow has melted, leaving a soggy mess. The wind is beginning to pick up, and blowing away the fog that has been here for the past few days.

Looking at some of the previous posts, I can see weather similarities...

Wind just picking up here (the girls look funny with their ruffled feathers when the wind hits their rears :heehee: ) and the sky is clouding over.

@wiseowl - great photo of the moon; mind you the moon has been so very bright lately it has taken the place of the elusive sun!

@Sheal - :fingers crossed: for you (and I hope you are able to make tomorrows meal out)

@mowgley - I wish you all the very best in choosing the perfect furball for your family :cat-kittyandsmiley: Have a nosey at *all* your local rescue centres; sometimes you can pick up a pure breed. If a breeder thinks one of the litter is less than perfect (for breed standards that is, not health) they often take them to the rescue centres

Saw this cute poem about our weather

                            "It's winter in Ontario
                            and the gentle breezes blow
                            at seventy miles an hour
                            and thirty degrees below

                            Oh how I love Ontario
when the snow is up your butt
you take a breath of winter air
                            and your nostrils freeze shut

Yes the weather is wonderful here
so I guess I'll hang around
                            I could never leave Ontario
Because I'm frozen to the ground..."

It's 6c/43f today which will be a nice little break that will end when the temps plunge again tonight...:)

I can appreciate that @CanadianLori, I have relatives in Kincardine by Lake Huron and they refer to it as 'the land of the horizontal snow'!

Gales here and now started to rain. Early this morning it was 10c but it felt like 5c in the wind.

Glenridding flooding for a fourth time, Keswick flood defences close to failing again, River derwent south of Cockermouth in the fields.

It does not look good right now.
