  1. The origins of the business can be traced back to the early 1960s when we first grew vegetables and plants for sale in the local East Devon markets, whilst living on site in a caravan!

We've come a long way since then, and the Ottery St Mary centre has grown over the last forty years or so to become one of the largest in the UK, and all our centres still reflect our enduring passion for plants.

Unusually in the garden centre business we grow the vast majority of the plants we sell, and the Ottery St Mary centre is surrounded by a complex of growing fields, polytunnels and glasshouses that occupy more than 100 acres, and produce millions of plants each year. We are very proud of our Otter grown shrubs, trees, herbaceous perennials, bedding plants, fuchsias and geraniums, so much so that all hardy plants are covered by our two year plant guarantee.

We have three of the most popular garden centres in the South West located in Devon, and have a large plant centre in Lymington, Hampshire.

So whether you need some bedding plants, a plant for a special present or that hard to find specimen to complete your planting plan, why not visit us at Otter Nurseries?
