Poet's Corner Shrub Nursery is situated on the banks of the River Esk in the centre of picturesque Lealholm, near the Train Station and the Public Car Park. Our landscaped gardens display fine specimen trees, shrubs and herbaceous borders, rockeries, patio plants and planted troughs.
Started in the late 70's by legendary Plantswoman Hilda Rees, who along with Husband Trevor, built the garden and started selling cuttings over the garden gate. Developed through the 80's and 90's. gaining a reputation for variety and value. When Hilda reach 83 young she wanted to step back a little, Ilona , who trained at the Welsh College of Horticulture and worked in the Nursery in the early days, has now taken over with her Husband Steve. Hilda still comes out to help server, only not during the Snooker Tournaments...........when she must not be disturbed.
The garden was rebuilt at the home of local Poet John Castillo, famous for Yorkshire dialect poems. Frequently referred to as "As Poet's Corner", which is in fact the burial spot of former Poet Laureates in Westminster Abbey.

Open 7 days a week. December closed for a 3 week break. This year we might also close for the Month of January.
