    Hi,
I know this might be a very useful new feature for some but I personally don't want any messages from this forum to my personal email I gave when registering, apart from the obviously necessary admin emails.

If I want to check the threads I started or participated, I'll log on.

How can I stop this service/ feature?

And sorry, perhaps it's just Monday but I dislike the attitude to put on annoying ads and a note "if you don't like this, pay here to get rid of it". Ads are fine, often even useful.

Sorry, it's Monday again and the world is gray. [IMG]

But half the world may well hold the opposite view ... damned if you do, damned if you don't ...

... whenever I join a forum I check all the pages in the User Profile page to make sure I am happy with the settings. Often they publish my Email address to All and Sundry. That may be naivety on the part of the SysAdmin, but in other cases the choices have been carefully thought through and just don't suit me.

A single-set of "defaults" ain't going to suit everyone - maybe won't suit anyone! - but may still have been created with the best of intentions ...

My setting for "You can allow other members to send you email messages. Receive Email from Other Members?" is turned off, and I have not changed it since the latest upgrade.

    Thanks Kirsten,
I do the same. Perhaps paranoid but I like to share the minimum amount of personal data even in a friendly environment.
It's just these guys with 75words/second typing speed who create New Features faster than you can type your login name. I sign in in a mums' forum for a little chatter and the next day my laptop emits blue rays that make my daughter to automatically hoover her room before school.
*sigh*, the world goes too fast. I'd prefer to have the old pace "we are introducing a new thingy, do you want it?" instead of having to be constantly alert.

But I'm ready and willing to battle the terrifying New Things on this forum as this is really a gem. Friendly, helpful and fun. :luv:

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time:)

Yes, sometimes when changes are done, it has the unfortunate side effect of resetting our options.
It's simplicity itself to reset them.

    > UserCP
    > Edit Options
    > scroll down to Messaging and Notification
    > In Default Thread Subscription Mode
    > choose No Email Notification#

    You should also check
    - Receive Friendship Request Email
    - Receive Email from Other Members
    - Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages
