Here are some pics of bits of the garden still in bloom, saw a bumble bee yesterday with legs yellow with pollen from the Evening Primrose.

    And outside the kitchen window

Got these just before a thunderstorm came over with huge raindrops - like a tropical one!

We were driving back from Launceston during the thunder and lightening and hail with two chickens in the boot!
I like the pink flower at the bottom left corner in the last photo do you know what it is?

    Thank you marge.

Hi Celia, it is some sort of Periscaria, easy to propagate if you want a some, you just pull bits off with some root. I am at Davidstow so pop in next time you are passing. I will pm our address if you like.

One of 'my' work gardens; these were taken today after I cleared the border this week, just the top wee bit still to do by the wheelbarrow. It's the 20th Oct and I'm still in shirtsleves!

Dahlias are still going strong despite one night with a slight frost, at this rate they'll still be in bloom for Christmas :D Nerine are magnificent, Kafir Lilly looking good The Acer shows no sign of dropping leaves (pic taken on 21st Oct last year has it half bare), bees are still working the Echium for all their worth and I've just started planting some winter Pansy and hardy Cyclamen. Elsewhere Roses are in bloom and I haven't even thought about lifting any Begonias

Fabulous frogesque. Does that wonderful looking wall go all around the garden?

Last week of October and the forsythia is coming out. So are my daffs, violets and primroses. Bob Flowerdew reckons there could be a problem next spring as some plants may not have the energy to flower again then. So enjoy it while you can!

Still looking good are this summer's flowers:

Butterflies too are making the most of this late, long lasting summer

Leaves on the hornbeams are only just beginning to turn, but those on most of the other trees are still as green as they were in August.

Blackthorn: Yep, it's an Edwardian house and the garden is totally enclosed.

Hornbeam: Fab pics as always. [IMG] As a side note about trees. I've noticed on some cut logs that tree rings have very different growth rates and some rings look as if they have had a check during the year. I've always thought this was down to cold summers but I'm now think perhaps it's due to hot dry conditions where the early leaves are shed then new growth occurs if the weather improves later in the year.

Lack of daylight must take it's toll soon but I wonder what a winter without any frost would do to our gardens.

reat lot of pictures Frogesque and Hornbeam - I really like the walled garden - when I was living in Edinburgh the biggest problem was wetness from too much rain. The light up therre is so wondeful I'm sure it's a big help to the flowers as long as it stays warm enough.
