As 2016 progresses into September . I wonder if the GC members have Gold medal winning plants for this year and also the inevitable Wooden spoon plants ( It looked great in the seed catalogue !) My list is below

    First the Wooden spoons
Phlox starry eyes - now to be fair the seed description did say it grew longer than normal phlox. But 1 metre long sprawling untidy mess !
Bidens Golden Eye - another metre long tangle .
Ipomoea Bright Ideas Green - purchased as lovely plug plants 2" high . After a full season they are a mighty 5" high.
Gerbera Daisy - this "fast growing plant" has just formed its first flower bud after 6 months.

    Now the Gold Medals !
Diascia - not grown for a few years , delicate long flowering plants
Canna - Very reliable showey plant, we have 24 flower heads on 3 C. Tropicanna !
Dahlia cactus - Planted a full flower bed this year with them. Now in full flower.
Zinnia Whirlygig - a lovely mix of long flowering Zinnias
Begonia Waterfall - Bought last year at a GC - flowering like crazy this year ( Why do I buy plants in ones ! )
