    Hi ALL
I don`t even know where to start

Back in Italy there was a fisherman who loved aloe
and tropical plants , his name was Paolo
Unfortunatly he passed away one year and half ago.
Long story made short , before he died he had loads
seeds ready to be planted in spring ,
but he never managed to see Spring .
Short , short story the 26 rare aloe are now in my house
and I must manage to germinate them .

    please any help .
my plan is to use orticulate sand and close the pots in clear bags

    this was Paolo`s blog

Well, I have germinated mine in a mixture of John Innes 2, grit and Tesco low dust cat litter. I microwaved the mixture for a couple of minutes first to kill any fugus or bacteria then sowed the seed onto it and placed a bag over it. I don't seem to have any problem with germination.
Seedlings need to be kept damp but not wet.
    Which varieties do you have?

well ....i did a little try out ....there was a stapelia variegated as well as all the 26 variety of aloe , so I had a try with that first ...

and they come out after 7 days .....
I opened the bag to let the plant breath and the day after all the 3 plants have been eated by a slugs who was still in there .......

so I`ve planted half of the variety , mainly the nice variety and the tree aloes (4/5 tree) about 3 days ago.

            Sal,

Seems you have a slug problem. Didn't you lose some cactus seedlings?
Maybe time for the pellets? :paladin:

If the Aloe seeds are fresh, you should have germination within 2 weeks.
