    Hi everyone,

Have purchased an Acer from local store, currently approximately 5ft tall.

I have a few pots at home already and wondered if putting into a square container (plastic)

So sorry. Pressed post by accident and can’t work out how to edit!

    I’ll continue.

Have a plastic square 30cm pot, have ordered some John Innes ericaceous compost.

Would that pot size be ok to pop it into?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Linz
Can you post a picture? 30 cm seems a tad small. If you intend to keep it in a container I would go for a heavier and larger one
John innes ericaceous is ideal though.:)

What sort of acer is it?

Some grow a lot faster and taller than others.

I too would suggest 30cms is far too small. I'd use one twice that size. You don't want to be having to transfer it to a bigger pot at a later date.

    Thank you for the responses.

I’m picking it up tomorrow so will get more details then. It wouldn’t fit in my car!

I have attached the details of the pot. 40cms they are.

Can easily pick another pot up over the weekend.

I would say that even a 40cm pot is still on the small size for a 5ft Acer
My Acer Palmatum Garnet is in a 30cm pot but it's only 3ft high, its been
in the same pot for a couple of years now and could do with a re-pot into
    a larger pot.
