    Hi,

Please can someone offer some advice? I am growing carrots for the first year, I made raised beds and added fresh topsoil to them - a good environment I am told for most veg. Now that I am harvesting my carrots a lot of them have between 3-6 carrots on one carrot plant.
See the picture below! The ground is not stony and I have had netting over the carrots the whole time. Is it because I have planted them too close together?

Any help would be great! - They taste nice but not sure you would find one in Tesco!!!

Hi LCH, this usually happens if you use manure or too much fertiliser. David.

Don't they taste so much better than shop bought ones though LCH? I'm growing carrots the first time myself this year and was amazed at the difference - mine didn't grow nearly as big as that monster though!
I had two separate carrots that managed to twist right round each other (so the bottoms ended up under their own tops but were interlocked in the middle) - guess they must've hit a stone or something, wish I'd taken a picture before I ate them!

I have grown a short variety in pots this year. Think I'll nip out and try one!
