My oriental fire bellied toads, I've had 4 of them for nearly ten years only 2 1/2 ins long and they are unfortunately all boys(not that they can tell the difference) and as in this pic still try to mate with each other and ignored the earthworm underneath. Their bellies are black and red, natures warning that they are as all toads are poisonous.

Years ago I had many different reptiles and amphibians, now its just these and the cat.

Hope you have success with them, they usually germinate quickly. (Pinch the tip out at 6ins to produce a bushier plant) [IMG]

Looks like you just did Lady of Leisure!! Far more flattering than the nicknames me and my better half have for each other.

TEN YEAR OLD!!! How long do these little fellas normally live? For some strange reason I thought they had the same life expectancy as hamsters and such like. I live such a sheltered life!

Oh, Sheppy, I notice you're not giving any clues away? :D

Funnily, frogs and toads are soft to pick up, not squidgy as you think; quite cute little characters [IMG]

I think 15 is old for a fire belly, common toads can live to 20, being toxic they have fewer predators than frogs so live longer. [IMG]

I am glad that somebody else shares my interest for reptyles and amphibians.
I had the time of my life when I was working in a pet shop many years ago and I could take care and observe all day long little beauties like physignatus or iguanas or snakes etc.
Of course when somehow a snake managed to escape from the terrarium and hide somewhere in the shop, that was not fun.
Altough the little one was not a poisonous species, but still I wouldn't have liked him to show up unexpected from the top shelf (most likely) or near my foot. Or worse , a customer foot!
Well, until we managed (myself and my employer) to catch the snake, there was a lot of tension and looking around everytime a customer was served!
