A couple of trees...

Here's the first, a full tree picture and a close-up. Is it some kind of magnolia perhaps? I'm pretty clueless.





Here's the second, just a blossom close-up:

 

1. Looks like Aesculus . Probably Aesculus hippocastanum.
A Horsechestnut.
Flower buds there already.

2. Hmm! Need more detail.Possibly Pyrus. Common name pear.

 

Ouch - a conker tree - they get huge. Hmmmmmm.

The second one is currently over 12 feet tall, and much "taller" than "wide", if that helps, with no branches until about six feet off the ground. Here's another picture of the two trees next to each other, (i) on the left, (ii) on the right. Light's not very co-operative at this time of day, sadly, so I'll try again tomorrow.

 

If there is a tinge of pink in the blossom of the second one, it's Malus (apple). Very difficult to tell from pear and cherry apart from the pink blush

 

If you get a very clear close up showing a single flower it is possible to go a wee bit further.

Cherries have a single stone, therefore the flower has just a single female part. Stigma/style.

While Malus .. apples have 5 stigma.This gives 5 pips.
