This is a garden that I know of from times past, and in fact have a bit of a sentimental link with it, again from long time past - this image shamelessly nicked from Google Street View, but this garden generally looks like this every year:

    Quarry.jpg

Now apart from begonias, a few marigolds, and the odd wee bit of lobelia, anyone care to take a stab at other plant varieties that are in this garden?

Wonder how many plants there are in total!?!

There's a garden similar to this a few miles from where I live and to be honest I think it's gaudy, sorry I don't like it at all.

Possibly Marigolds along the edge of the drive.

Sorry FC, I think it's a bit OTT too.

You're right though, they must be very dedicated.

Whilst it does look slightly (I mean very) OTT I would rather see it than many of the boring run of the mill gardens you find!

Did anybody see the begonia house on Gardeners World a few weeks back?

It is gaudy, and I wouldn't want mine to be like that (even if I had the skill!) but I still like it.
Partly because it's the work of a single-minded and determined individual, unswayed by the whims of current fashion. Also, because it's exuberant and completely over-the-top. I love the pink begonia square carpet. If that was a green carpet none of us would turn a hair, but because it's pink it shakes up all our expectations. No harm in that.

I'm not sure whether I like it or not to be honest - it is very impressive, albeit very 'in your face' if you know what I mean; what is remarkable is the sheer number of plants there - must have cost an absolute fortune!

Besides that, the time that it must take to plant it all out, and then clear it all away at the end of the year - must be someone who is retired.

I'm shocked that the hanging baskets on either side of the door don't match ...

              ... I'll get my coat !!

It does seem out of character, as the rest has almost an OCD level of attention to it. I wonder if the householder is called Mr Nal, and a first name of Andrew or Alan?? [think about it.......] :snork:

I think it is absolutely wonderful, so bright and cheerful! I like any garden that looks like someone has made a real effort, even if it's not what I'd do myself (and that isn't!). I'd love to live next door to them so I could enjoy it without all the hard work!

Would rather see that than some of the unloved gardens with old cars/junk in that people have around here

A nice lot of bedding but not vary imaginative. Looks as if there are are marigolds, petunias and fuchsias also. The baskets SHOULD be matching.
