I am still finding 'rooms' on this forum so forgive me if I have just jumped in without commenting on other posts but I just had to share with like minded folks.

I have a Westie who is seven years old. I thought I would like another one as they are such gorgeous wee dogs. I arranged to get a three year old bitch from a breeder I know. This wee dog is too small for showing so the breeder was reluctantly re homing her. I got Ruby on Monday. She was a total delight. Great with the grandchildren . So friendly and Scrap mu other dog and she got on fine. On Tuesday afternoon I noticed she was panting a bit. It was a warm day. She hadn't slept the night before (well they never like new sleeping arrangements do they). As the night wore on she seemed to get worse. The breeder told me she did have a strange way of breathing and I did think that was odd. I thought maybe she was distressed by the new surroundings etc. I decided to get her settled and thought if she was the same in the morning I would take her to the vet. She collapsed and died. I was so upset. I had a PM done and she had a valve defect in her heart and fibrotic lungs. She had an ear infection a week before i got her and it would seem this was a catalyst in what happened. I just felt so sad. She was a wee dote. We were all heart broken and my grandaughter was inconsolable.
Thanks for listening i just wanted to get it off my chest:cry:

We all go through these emotions time and time again. I know I have several times and it never gets any easier.

I am so sorry, gorgeous little thing.

It's unfortunate that the breeder didn't spot it.

Ah bless. You are all so kind. It was such a shame. We only had her for 24 hours. I hope she is chasing rabbits in doggie heaven:)
