Your doing well getting to grips Aln, great pictures. :dbgrtmb: May I suggest a little more attention to horizons. I struggled with those until I got my new camera where I could line everything up. :)

Wow, you could submit them for critique to Steves camera course for learners
Using the most expensive camera, and providing the best manual pics for critique
Well done for a learner wishing to improve amazing good pics
If I improve that well in one one hour session I will be most impressed

          Well done Steve

          thanks sheal and jack :ccheers::ThankYou:

been playing with the iso, ss and the likes, its fiddly and not easy, but i'm sure with time and patience i'll get the hang of it.

Jack, the camera and lense and spare batteries was bought second hand, as i couldnt afford nor justify the retail price. the whole caboodle is like new as the previous owner has upgraded to a canon 5D3.

This is the canvas I had made of when I took a photo about 2 years back of our boy on holiday with the Panasonic tz1 on easy mode. image.jpg

It graces the stairwell in our home

A few more, whilst mrs al was watching the X factor, I was playing around again. It's quite hard this photee lark when you don't know what your doing, but the fun is learning!!! :) :ccheers: :dbgrtmb:

Ah practicing Depth of field course 3 :-)

I will struggle from now on, the only portraiture I will be able to do is using one
of those kids life size makeup dolls heads
(You can not walk up to a guy and say can I take your pix mate)

The rails in one photo and the coloured kitchen tools in the other are excellent for
                  the DoF COURSE

Cheers Jack. I'm practicing the techniques to get things right, reading things seems straightforward but not so straightforward putting it into practice!

It's all gobbledygook to me at the moment, and I have to read things more than once to take in the technical terms. Hey ho, still fun and thanks to the 'tinternet, it's free learning :dbgrtmb: :ccheers:

' You can not walk up to a guy and say can I take your pix mate'. Why not Jack? I did exactly that during the summer with the islands Lieutenant Governor and he was most obliging. :) If you explain briefly why you want to take the picture then most people don't have a problem.

Actually, Sheal, we're having a problem here in the UK. I subscribe to the Amateur Photography Magazine and there's reports in there of amateur Photographers being reported to the Police, stopped by Security Guards, and one guy at a Bus Station in Shrewsbury was arrested for taking photo's when a lady complained he included one of her kids in a pic. I believe in Scotland they tried to ban pics being taken on the Underground but had to give up on that. There are many reasons why amateur photographers are having to be careful of what pics they take on the mainland and in today's paranoiac society.

I know that things are very sensitive now with regards to children and most photographers of any ability are aware of that, but it didn't occur to me that taking pictures of adults would be a problem by polite request. We live in such a hyper-sensitive world now, can we sneeze still without getting permisssion? Sorry, that's being flippant.
