Bordering the site, was stopped in my tracks by these beautiful flowers on a tree - may well be very common, but not one I've noticed before.

Then, my breath was taken away by these beauties:

And almost next to those, were these pretty things

    CIMG0015 (768x1024).jpg

And a similar one - maybe even the same, but this one looked bigger (and was a good few feet away)

And another bud on a tree, which I think has an exotic look to it

Just a few more to come ...

        Better fracking than quarrying.

They get the go ahead to completely dig up places like that around here for aggregate extraction, on the assumption that they will plant, say, 20,000 trees.:snork:

Have you seen those trees they plant, 6ins apart ,
1 foot high and a rabbit guard around it.
Look awful, will never grow to maturity, and no undergrowth.

We have had a battle here with a fracking proposal that encompassed areas of outstanding beauty. There is a Gvt moratorium on it at the moment with the official line being there will be no cracking unless it can be proven to be not harmful.
          Beautiful photos "M" :spinning:

It won't be a proposed fracking site for too much longer. It will become an actual fracking site. This is regardless of public opinion. There's one just been recommended for approval not too far from me, despite huge numbers of objections registered at the planning office, as well as organised protests. Yet if you paint your house the wrong shade in the same area, you're likely to have the planning officers on your back. Everything comes with a price tag. I once asked a successful business man how I might get planning permission for an eco home on my land. He said, offer to make a substantial donation to a charity of the chief planning officer's choice, but pay it to him personally for him to choose which charity gets it. Not a bribe or anything, just a gesture to show that you're a nice upstanding pillar of the community who must surely have the best interests of the local community at heart and therefore should have his application approved. No doubt a similar act of good will was done by the fracking company.
