Pulled up a potato plant and got four small potatoes.

    Four months for four potatoes.

    I'm grievously disappointed.

I shall be leaving the rest of the plants to grow on a bit longer. At this stage is there a point in adding more compost?

I read once that the packets in which your seeds come, are often handy to contain your crop.

    Cheers! :D

My eye rolling decreased proportionally as I scrolled through the tread. You all deserve a dead arm.

    1. Ive got Dai cheerfully reminding me to DIG beneath the plant for the potatoes.
    Reaction: MASSIVE eye roll.

    2. I get Ziggy showing off his 50 kilos of potatoes, rubbing my loser face in my tragedy.
Reaction: Big eye roll plus a smug snort at his green potato.

    3. And Doghouse telling jokes.
Reaction: Im going to knife crime myself.

    Youse are all SOOOOOOO mean.

I can feel the dead arm already:tnp::tnp:. Lost about 2lb due to lack of earthing up & going green.Sorry Melinda, if it makes you feel any better, all the onions above have bolted, due to the dry weather, no good for storing.

Hi, Melinda, don't feel too bad about it, I think the dry spring caused it. If you check recent posts you will find that I posted a similar result afew weeks ago. If its any consolation my earlies have resulted in some plants 3 spuds and some 10 spuds. Generally a poor year for earlies but main crop hopefully better as they have had some rain.

I can top you, Melinda. I planted spuds in bags this year, 5 in a bag, 3 bags, and from one of the the bags (5 plants remember) I got ONE spud the size of a sprout!

My peas are likewise. I've had three fairly small pickings (about 20-30gms) thus far and that seems to be about it. They seem about ready to turn up their roots and quit this life. They only got to about 18" high, most of them stayed about 8". Lotta work for precious little.

But my broad beans are a different story, as is my purple sprouting broccoli! I shall have a real glut of that next year (assuming they survive if we have another Arctic winter!).

Melinda, don't worry, I'm picking 2 french beans at a time and half the plants have died. The cabbages have lovely lacy leaves.
the red onions are staying the size of spring onions...

      As I say..Hakuna Matata....

Hi Daisees, Sorry to hear about your peas. Mine have done the opposite, look at my thread called "jack and the pea stalk" for piccy.
