I haven't joined a forum or chatroom of any sort before, so I'm not too sure if I'm doing this bit right or not. Forgive me if I tread on toes.
I've recently found out that my little girl has allergies to many of the preservatives found in the food we buy, so I've decided to dig up a bit of the family estate and turn it into a veg plot. well, having taken a look, the kids and the dog seem to own most of it, so I think I shall try growing stuff in containers. Have any of you tried this sucessfully? I'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks. Love Lili

    Hi Liliane,

Welcome to Gc, and ask away, there are plenty of experienced people on here to help, and a few of us have only just started too.

This is my first forum attempt also, and I've made over 100 posts so far, so I think I'm getting the hang of it!

One tip for the garden, take a little at a time, and you don't have to do everything at once! You may get put off when things don't go to plan!

If you are looking for somewhere on the high street to buy things, have a look in a Wilkinsons store, they have a nice range of gardening items all reasonably priced. They also have some tomato and herb plug plants for sale at the moment, just to get you started!

    Hope this Helps!

    Welcome to the forum :)

I have been into Wilkinsons myself today and they have quite a lot of vegetable growing items in. They did have things in a big black container/pot called complete kits that came in different varieties. Dont know which ones exactly but there did look like a fair few different ones.

I dont grow vegetables myself, just general gardening but I went in looking for Strawberries as thought might give it a dabble this year (and bedding plants) and came out with neither cause none in stock - but they did have plenty of the others.
