    Hi

I have a pear tree, and wonder what type it is, so I can solve it's issues (I think it is poorly, as the fruit is covered in a soft down).

Once I know what type it is, I can begin my quest for a cure!

    Thanks

    randomjulie,your tree is very special.
Not to be confused with Chaenomeles which is sometimes also called Quince.

This may help you to use the fruits when golden and ripe.....

    Quote from link below....

"Quinces can never be eaten raw. The seeds are poisonous so should be removed before consumption. Though the interior of the quince is white when raw, cooking will turn the flesh deep red. Due to their high pectin content, the quinces are popular for use in jams, jellies and preserves and are ideal for poaching, stewing, cooking or baking as a dessert."

Wow! I thought it was sick! Hahaha!

I tasted some fruit late last year (when we moved into the house) and it tasted bad - so I assumed it was suffering....but now I know!

Jams and such like will be created! I made apple crumbles and pies from the apple tree last year....maybe some apple & pear crumbles are due! :hapfeet:

Thanks sooooo much, everyone ! I feel very happy now!
