I have an ugly corrugated iron shed that I want to hide. Will ivy cling to it? I know it clings to wood and brick but what about corrugated iron. I don't want to have to build a wooden structure but I will if I have to. Thanks.

I suppose you could place a few canes as close as possible to the corrugated iron. This would give the ivy a kick start and hopefully it wild then spread to the iron.
My next door neighbor has ivy all up the side of her house it has spread to my garden fence and even obscures a window of hers. It is a real nuisance encroaching onto my side!

I think I'd be inclined to use a Parthenocissus (Boston Ivy or Virginia Creeper) Redwing. It will look more attractive and possibly be more manageable than ivy. If you do decide to go for Hedera (ivy) choose one with a variegated leaf as the plain green varieties tend to look dull. However, on balance, I'd go for the Pathenocissus. I'm sure there will be other suggestions!:hehe:

If it needs to be self clinging, then go with the ivy. :gnthb:

Ivy has the advantage of being evergreen!

Thanks guys. I like the idea of Hedera because it is evergreen and my ugly corrugated iron wall is BIG and it will hide it well. It is also an excellent plant for wildlife. My question is really whether it will cling to the corrugated iron or not. I do like the variegated suggestion.
