... So although I probably will never see this plant, can you put me out of my misery?!

    what is this plant?

I've looked, the foliage is wrong for saxifrage, as is the growing shape. But can't think what else it could be? Photo taken in UK, in May, I think indoors. image.jpeg

Nemesia has become a very popular bedding plant here.
Would have expected them to be grown in Belgium as well.
They sell single healthy pots over here in all the garden centres for a vastly inflated price...£4.99
Having said that I bought Nemesia Wisley Vanilla last year and was thrilled to see how well it did up here in Scotland. It just went on flowering all summer long. It even smelt of Vanilla!

Years ago we grew our own Nemesia from seed...had hundreds of seeds in a packet!

We had a very hot day yesterday...our summer!
This morning just had thunder storm and torrential downpour.
          Summer now over for 2016!????

Well, I offered her the nemesia solution, and she thinks not. Said she remembered the flowers as being like big daisies, but squarer...

Another photo, and there seem to be deep cuts in 4-5 petals, giving a daisy-like appearance, but a definite throat, rather than composite centre.... (Sorry, not too good at the terminology!)

They were in the tea rooms of an English stately home, so who knows what they could be. If she phones the house, and gets an answer, I will be sure to let you know!

She is so pleased! Apparently, trying to write a novel, and wanted to refer to the plant... And then found out its name was worthy of a novel in itself!
